– Congress members lack understanding of the projects.
– Are ruling party leaders ready for an open debate on the projects, if they have the guts?
– BJP District President Dinesh Kulachari at a media conference
Nizamabad, July 18 (Gatla News): BJP District President Dinesh alleged that district Congress leaders proposed design changes to the Pranahita-Chevella package works solely to secure commissions. He stated that ruling party leaders are speaking without any proper understanding of the projects. He addressed a press conference held on Saturday at the party office in the district headquarters. He criticized the Congress party for completely neglecting Nizamabad—once renowned as the ‘Annapurna’ (granary) district—and for deceiving the district’s farmers with uninformed statements. Dinesh Kulachari demanded that if Congress leaders are truly sincere, they should immediately commence the pipeline works at Binola. He criticized Congress leaders for raising a hue and cry about not receiving commissions from the Kaleshwaram project, implying that they would only initiate works if commissions were involved. He remarked that while the Chief Minister is focusing on HYDRAA in Hyderabad, leaders like Sudarshan Reddy and Mahesh Kumar Goud in Nizamabad remain in a deep slumber. Dinesh questioned why encroachments on the Ali Sagar and Sarangapur canal bunds were not being removed. He reiterated that if they were sincere, they should start the pumps at the Binola lift irrigation scheme. Allegations were made that massive corruption took place through payments made to Mega Engineering for the purchase of pipes worth ₹1,800 crore. It was stated that funds totaling ₹4,000 crore were squandered in this manner. The Sriram Sagar Project, once a lifeline for the district, has been rendered completely ineffective. Currently, the SRSP holds only 15 TMC of water, with 10 TMC classified as ‘dead storage.’ The situation for farmers in the project’s command area has become dire due to the remaining 5 TMC of water. It was emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party stands in support of farmers and fights for their cause. Presidents of party-affiliated wings, Mopal Mandal BJP President Shashank, 5th Division Corporator Yadala Naresh, party leaders, and activists participated in the meeting.
