– CM Revanth Reddy Appeals to Union Minister Shivraj Chouhan
Hyderabad (Gatla News):Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has requested Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to allocate the remaining 9.56 lakh houses to the state under the PMAY-G (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin) scheme. The CM met the Union Minister, who was visiting Hyderabad, at Madhapur. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and senior officials were present. The CM thanked the Union Minister for allocating two lakh houses to the state in the first phase of the scheme. It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister had previously submitted a representation to the Union Minister in Delhi last July, seeking the sanction of houses for 11,56,915 eligible rural families. He has now reiterated the request to allocate the remaining 9.56 lakh houses in line with the state’s demand. During the meeting, he briefed the Union Minister on the impact of El Niño in the state, noting that electricity consumption in the agricultural sector had risen due to deficient rainfall conditions. He stated that the state government has prepared advance plans to prevent shortages of drinking water and electricity amidst the El Niño situation and sought necessary support from the Centre to tackle El Niño-related challenges in the agricultural sector. He also informed the Union Minister that the state is providing fine-variety rice to the poor through ration shops—an initiative unique in the country—and is encouraging the cultivation of fine-variety paddy by offering a bonus of ₹500. He stated that farmers in the state are being encouraged to cultivate alternative crops in light of the El Niño phenomenon. He mentioned that a fruit and vegetable market meeting international standards is being established across 250 acres. The Chief Minister urged everyone to recognize the need to encourage farmers to adopt crop rotation and to extend their cooperation in this regard.
