Nizamabad, August 8 (Gatla News): Athletes from Nizamabad excelled at the 9th Heroes International Taekwondo Championship held in Thailand. Bringing immense pride to Nizamabad, Telangana, and India, students from the Taekwondo Martial Arts Academy India (TMAAI)—located in the NRI Colony on Bodhan Road—delivered outstanding performances at the prestigious championship held at the Eastern National Sports Training Centre in Pattaya, Thailand. With over 4,403 athletes from 33 countries participating, this event stood out as one of the most competitive global Taekwondo tournaments. Representing India, three talented students from TMAAI achieved remarkable success by winning a total of four medals. Shaikh Mahtab Ahmed (-81 kg) demonstrated his talent by competing in two categories and winning one gold medal and one bronze medal. Shaikh Talha (-41 kg) secured a silver medal with a powerful performance, while Ilhan Abdullah Farooqui (-31 kg) won a bronze medal, displaying remarkable determination and fighting spirit. These remarkable achievements reflect the discipline, dedication, and high-quality training imparted at TMAAI under the guidance of Dr. Abdullah Farooqui—an international coach, referee, and recipient of the ‘Bharat Gaurav Ratna Samman’ award. He played a pivotal role in grooming these young champions and putting Nizamabad on the international map. Upon their return to Nizamabad, the athletes were warmly welcomed and felicitated by Police Commissioner Sai Chaitanya. He presented certificates to the medal winners and commended their success. He emphasized that students should actively participate in sports alongside their academics, noting that physical fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship are essential for a healthy and successful life. Nizamabad ACP Prakash highlighted the importance of sports in building self-confidence, fostering personality development, and shaping a strong future; he urged students to come forward and actively participate in martial arts like Taekwondo. Former Deputy Mayor Mir Majaz Ali also felicitated all the Taekwondo students and congratulated the medal winners at his residence. He extended his heartfelt best wishes, expressing hope that these athletes from Nizamabad would—God willing—go on to win Asian and Olympic medals in the future, bringing further glory to the nation.
